Who We Are?

Saint-Gobain Refractory Zirconia

Saint-Gobain Refractory Zirconia, part of Saint Gobain Ceramics - Specialty Grains & Powders (SGP), engineers and makes high performance fused zirconia grains and powders that enable high performance across a wide range of metallurgical, anti-wear, specialty ceramic and casting applications. We engineer chemistry, microstructure and particle size control, supported by certified quality systems, lot level traceability (COA/SDS), and responsive technical support to solve the toughest application challenges.

Our zirconia materials are integral to high-temperature and high-precision applications across multiple industries. They are used in refractories for steel and glass production, investment casting for aerospace, medical components and even golf clubs, ceramic cores and facecoats, thermal barrier coatings, and advanced structural ceramics for energy and specialty applications. Engineers and manufacturers choose Saint-Gobain Refractory Zirconia for its high purity, batch-to-batch consistency, phase stability, and engineered particle control, all supported by laboratory-validated quality and reliable multi-site global supply.

At Saint-Gobain Refractory Zirconia, sustainability drives every stage of our operations, from raw material sourcing to production and delivery.
Aligned with the Saint-Gobain Group’s Net Zero by 2050 goal, we follow science-based targets to reduce our environmental footprint while advancing safer, more efficient material solutions.

Our 2030 Targets (vs. 2017 baseline)

saint-gobain refractory zirconia sustainability objectives 2030

Scope 1 refers to direct emissions from our manufacturing sites, Scope 2 covers emissions from purchased energy, and Scope 3 includes emissions across our entire value chain, from suppliers to end-of-life recycling.

We are also conducting Life Cycle Analyses (LCA) in accordance with ISO 14040/14044 standards to guide sustainable product development and minimize environmental impact throughout product use.

Beyond reducing carbon, sustainability at Saint-Gobain means protecting people, we maintain a zero-accident culture, proactive safety training, and robust EHS standards across all sites.

Our purpose is clear: to deliver high-performance materials that help industries thrive, responsibly, safely, and sustainably.
